The Seaway Valley Rapids Minor Atom A at the Pickering Panthers AA hockey tournament.

The Seaway Valley Rapids Minor Atom A took a break from regular season play to travel to Pickering to participate in the Pickering Panthers AA hockey tournament over the November 7th weekend. The Rapids opened round robin tournament with a game against the Oshawa Generals. Despite traveling that morning, the Rapids came out strong against the Generals and won 6-0 with Tristan Shoniker earning the shutout. Carey Terrance, Jr. opened the scoring in the first period of play with two unassisted goals. In the second period, Carson Martin connected on a pass from James Sullivan. During the third period, Braxton D'alessio scored on a pass from Jett Jock and Rylan Adams, who was the player of the game, got the last goal on an assist from Terrance.

For the team's second outing they faced the Belleville Bulls and the Rapids were victorious again with a score of 11-0 with Connor Fox earning the shut out. Terrance got the scoring underway on an assist from Trysen Sunday. Terrance got a hat trick plus one more for good measure. Martin, Jock (x2), Ethan Montroy, Sullivan, and Sunday each scored, and notching assists were Sullivan, McCarthy, Adams, Jonah Ashby, Martin, and Sunday. Jett Jock was named the player of the game. For the third game, the boys faced the Ajax Knights and walked away with a 6-1 win. Terrance opened the scoring in the first, unassisted, followed by Sunday (x2) in the second. In the third period, Jonah Ashby scored unassisted followed by Terrance assisted by Sunday and Adams and rounding out the third was Marco McCarthy, who was the player of the game, scored on a pass from Sunday. For the final game of the round robin the Rapids faced the Clarington Toros and won 5-1 with defensemen Antoine Lafrance being named the player of the game. Terrance once again got the team rolling with two points in the first period. It was followed in the second by Sunday and in the third by Martin and Jock. Assists went to D'alessio, Adams, Montroy, and Sullivan.

Rylan Adams

The Rapids faced the Oshawa Generals for the semi-finals of the tournament. The Generals scored first and it was the first time in the whole tournament that the Rapids fell behind. The team shook off its nerves with Martin scoring on a pass from Sullivan. The Generals quickly went up again by one point. Going into the second period, the team was down by one, Martin scored to even it up. The Generals scored again, but Terrance with an assist from Montroy evened it up. Terrance then got the go-ahead goal with Jock getting the insurance goal and D'alessio got the empty-netter for a final score of 6-3.

For the finals, the Rapids faced the Clarington Toros. Martin and Montroy were on fire and each scored during the first minute of play with each assisting the other. Montroy went on to get his first hat trick of the tournament with Terrance scoring twice and Jock scoring once. Assists went to Benjamin Pilon, Adams, Thomas Shoniker, and Martin.
