Cory J. Cooke, age 50, of Fort Covington, N.Y., passed away accidentally while deer hunting, Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, in Fort Covington. The Christmas season began early at the Iakhihsohtha home for the Elderly, as residents got into the Christmas spirit. The Akwesasne Mohawk Singers Bernice Lazore, Sally Ann Adams and Minerva White performed at the Home last Friday for the residents, but soon our Totas joined in the caroling. On Friday, St. Regis Mohawk School students wore their ribbon dresses and ribbon shirts to school and celebrated Native American Day with storytelling, singing and dancing.
