    June 24, 2015 - The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is announcing that the drinking water advisory for Kana:takon (St. Regis) and Tsi Snaihne (Snye) has been lifted. MCA’s Environmental Health Officer made the decision to lift the advisory based on the current and updated evidence regarding the safety of the river water. The St. Regis water treatment plant will resume normal operations for the treatment of drinking water.     The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is notifying the community of an incident that occurred in the St. Lawrence River between Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) and the city of Cornwall on Monday, June 22, 2015. While preparing for bridge demolition work in the area, a tugboat working to secure a barge was caught in the equipment and water current, then capsized.     At approximately, 9:15pm on Thursday June 18, the Saint Laurent, a cruise ship, struck the upstream bumper at Eisenhower Lock. There were 192 passengers, 81 crew, and a pilot on board the vessel.
