Salmon River's Evan White named 2021-22 Times All-North hockey MVP for Division II

Salmon River and Massena athletes were on the recently announced New York State High School Hockey Coaches Association 2022 All-State boys hockey teams.

Among NAC Division II awardees were Salmon River defender Evan White, netminder Rick Chatland and forward Evan Collette. Their team were the regular season and sectional champs. White was also the Times All-North hockey MVP for the season.

Also among them was OFA defenseman Drew Costello.

Massena senior goalie Ben Rogers earned honorable mention recognition for NAC Division I. He was also named as a Times All-North first team pick.

Also, among Division I skaters were Potsdam's Tyler Berkman and Canton's Rhett Palmer, named third team forwards. Both were also Times All-North first team picks.

Berkman led the Northern Athletic Conference Division I with 54 points on 26 goals and 28 assists on his way to being named the 2021-22 MVP, despite the Sandstoners' 1-19 record for 2021-22.

Palmer tallied 36 points on 20 goals and 16 assists, including two goals and an assist as Canton rallied to oust defending champs Massena 3-2 in overtime for the Section 10 final. Canton went 12-11 for 2021-22 after losing to Suffern of Section 1, who were later crowned state champions, by a 10-2 win in the first round of the state Division I tournament.

Four other players received Division II honorable mentions - St. Lawrence Central forward Ashton Adams, who led D-II with 45 points on 28 goals and 17 assists, as well as OFA forward Landin McDonald, along with forward Morgan Fox and defenseman Jakob Lynch from the Islanders. Adams made the Times All-North first team.

Lou Marsellino of Pelham was named Division II Player of the Year.Ed Witz of Pelham and Clayton Wilson of Starpoint were recognized as co-Coaches of the Year.
