Salmon River, Massena lacrosse take blowout wins over Ogdensburg, Heuvelton

Salmon River and Massena varsity lacrosse squadrons recently earned blowout victories against Ogdensburg and Heuvelton.

Friday, May 7 saw the Shamrocks girls team beat OFA 27-4. Joryan Adams scored four goals. Wynter Jock (four assists), Ryanne LaFrance (three assists), Kendall Jock (two assists) and Teya Mitchell (two assists) all notched hat tricks for Salmon River (3-0). Ariyah LaFrance (three assists) and Paisley Cook (two assists) each tallied a pair of goals. Aiyanna Bearshield, Kahrakwas Mitchell, Kaia Swamp and Jordan Reese all netted singletons. Paige LaRock scored twice for OFA as did Paige Merz and Hannah Costello.

Also, the Shamrock boys took down OFA 16-2 the same day. Kata Elijah bolstered the Salmon River offense with four goals. Carey Terrance scored three times. Mason Cree connected for two goals and a triplet of helpers. Stone Chubb (two assists) and Ethan Seymour each scored a pair of goals as well. Sebastien Laughing and Tehanerahtiens Barnes tallied a goal apiece. Saka Thompson made 10 saves in the SRC net.

The same day, Massena’s Raider girls bested Heuvelton 16-4.

In action on the diamond on May 7, the Raiders baseball team won 5-0 over Ogdensburg. David Dubray threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 19 OFA batters. Chris Paige knocked two base hits for Massena. The Salmon River softball team on May 7 lost 14-0 to St. Lawrence Central.

Massena and Salmon River each posted big lacrosse wins on Thursday, May 6. The ‘Rocks boys team easily beat Heuvelton 23-2. Kendall Jock led the SRC offense with five goals. The same day, Massena girls beat Saranac Lake-Lake Placid 15-4. Aryssa Hopps connected for four goals and four helpers. Her teammate Kathryn Meyer tallied three markers.

Salmon River and Massena went head-to-head in a Wednesday, May 5 baseball game that saw SRC narrowly win by a final tally of 3-2. Connor Lewis and Chase Lewis each spent time on the mound for the Shamrocks, allowing a combined three hits. They connected for a hit apiece at the bat. Massena pitcher Ethan Firnstein threw eight strikeouts.

Tuesday, May 4 saw the Shamrock girls sit down Potsdam by a 22-3 final score. Teya Mitchell connected for four goals to spark the SRC offense. Kaia Swamp, Gracie King, Ariyah Lafrance and Joryan Adams each scored a trio of goals. Kennedy Emerson scored twice for Potsdam. The same day saw Massena’s softball contingent shut out 15-0 by Canton.

Massena and Salmon River’s baseball teams fared well on Monday, May 3 bouts. The Raiders shut out Canton 9-0. David Dubray was on pace to pitch a perfect game before giving up a late hit. He sat down 13 batters. Brennan Snyder, Connor Terry and Emery Deshaies each connected for two hits.

The same day also resulted in Salmon River taking a 12-5 win over Ogdensburg. Conner Lewis pitched seven strikeouts. Donovan Lauzon had two hits.

The Salmon River boys lacrosse team also on May 3 dropped a 9-6 tilt to Canton. Stone Chubb paced Salmon with a quartet of goals.
