Salmon River senior boys play final home game; four other Massena, SRC tilts decided by single goal

The Salmon River Shamrocks varsity boys lacrosse squadron played their final home game of the season during a week where four other Massena and Salmon lax contests were won by just a single goal.

The Shamrocks on Friday, May 10 took control of the game within minutes and went on to claim a 19-8 win over Saranac Lake-Lake Placid at home, their graduating seniors' final home bout.

Klyden Jacobs paced the SRC offense. He scored his first career goal early on, and had turned that into a hat trick by halftime. He went on to score a second hat trick in the latter half. Skyler David scored two goals with three helpers. Talon Thompson scored three times and set up one play. Crayton Cree scored twice with two assists. Treyton Mitchell, Cobie Cree (one assist), Khyler Johnson (three assists), Logan Lebehn (one assist), Rarennenhawi Cook-Francis and Andyn Bero all netted singletons. Kyren Lazore tallied one helper. Falcon Cook worked the crease for four saves.

For SL-LP, Hayden Plank tallied three markers with two assists. Dylan Murnane scored three goals. Sully Fogarty (one assist) and Sam Donaldson each scored twice. Logan Brown made three saves.

On Wednesday, May 8 at Fort Covington, the 'Rocks won 12-6 over Massena. They got up to a 5-3 lead at the half and went on to outscore the Raiders 5-2 in the third frame. Cobie Cree paced the SRC offense with four goals. Hawi Francis scored three times with a helper. Ronerahtenen Mitchell scored twice with one assist. Kyren Lazore (one assist), Crayton Cree (one assist) and Talon Thompson all scored once. Logan Lebehn had one assist. Falcon Cook (four saves) and Ryan Oakes (six saves) split netminder detail.

For Massena, Nick Morrell scored twice. Caleb D'Arienzo (two assists), Jack Campbell, Luke Von Borstel and Jacob Thompson tallied solo markers. Hayden Hoerner stood tall with 17 saves.

On Tuesday, May 7, the Lady Raiders narrowly slid past the Lady Shamrocks for a 14-13 win at Fort Covington. Claire Tyo paced the Massena offense with five goals. Lindsey LaDue and Katelyn Kennedy each scored a hat trick. Meg Wilmshurst scored twice. Julia Blair scored once with a helper. Aryssa Hopps helped set up one play. Skarlet Wilson made five saves.

Paisley Cook led SRC with four goals. Jillian Benedict and Yanenowi Logan both scored a pair of goals. Joryan Adams, Jiana Lazore, Krysten Thompson, Jadie Burns and Karahkwenhawe White scored one time each. Meg Martin had a helper. Tiarra Anderson (10 saves) and Brounetta Terrance (four saves) each spent time in the net.

The Lady Raiders on Wednesday, May 8 defeated SL-LP 17-16 at North Country Community College. Massena pulled ahead 7-6 at the half and then went back and forth through the third and fourth stanzas. Aryssa Hopps scored with two seconds left on the clock to secure the one-goal win. She finished with a pair of goals and three assists. Lindsey LaDue struck for five goals. Julia Blair scored four times with three helpers. Claire Tyo (one assist) and Katelyn Kennedy each had two goals. Sophia Mitchell and Nova LeGrow each scored once. Kylie Letham set up one play. Skarlet Wilson backstopped for eight saves.

For SL-LP, Ryley Fischer (one assist) and Lydia Bullock each scored four goals. Mintre Newton tallied a hat trick. Olivia Ferebee scored twice. Erica Swirsky made two saves.

On Monday, May 6, the Shamrocks dropped a 14-7 game to St. Lawrence Central. Kyren Lazore topped the SRC scoresheet with three goals and an assist. Cobie Cree and Keldren King each scored once with a helper. Rarennenhawi Cook-Francis and Talon Thompson both netted a singleton. Khyler Thompson assisted two plays and Crayton Cree set up one. Falcon Cook (eight saves) and Ryan Oakes (seven saves) both spent time covering the crease.

For the Larries, Jayden Ashley scored seven goals. Matt Burg (one assist) and Logan Shantie each scored three times. Sean Hornung scored once. Zach Dumers had four assists. Mason Frary and Alex Burg had one assist each. Cash Feeley made 13 saves.

The same day, the Raiders lost in double-overtime 5-4 to Potsdam. Keenan Hassett scored the game-winner with 1:04 left in the second overtime period, assisted by Dustin Agen.

For Massena, Jack Campbell, Luke Von Borstel, Tylen Thompson and Casey Hooper scored the four goals. Nick Morrell had an assist. Hayden Hoerner made 14 saves.

On the Potsdam side, Hassett totaled two goals. Dustin Grant, Drew Talcott and Zach Kirka each scored once. Nate Green made 10 saves and Casey Basford made one while Green served a penalty.

On Saturday, May 4, the Massena boys and Northwood Prep were tied 8-all at the half before Northwood went on to win by one goal with a 14-13 final score. Morrell paced Massena with four goals and three assists. Zach LaBarge scored three times with two assists. Campbell and D'Arienzo each scored twice with a helper. Ben Rogers (one assist) and Jacob Thompson each scored once. Hoerner turned aside 18 shots.
