The 2016 regular season concluded earlier this week with both Akwesasne-based teams in good post-season position.

The Stars closed off their season with a hard fought 1-0 win over the Emard Brothers Lumber Mudders at Optimist Park in Cornwall. Taylor Francis scored the winning goal with minutes left in the match. She took a long pass from Stars goalie Diane Lazore and went one on one with Emard's goalie Chloe Dubeau. Francis sidestepped the goalie and had the open net but Dubeau tackled her as Francis scored.

Minutes before the Mudders club had several chances to score as they swarmed the Stars net with Lazore making key saves. During that rush Emard's Casey Atwell had two big chances to score as she caught Lazore out of position, but could not get a handle on the ball.

The playoffs began last night after press time.
