Salmon River Girls Volleyball sweeps Tupper Lake

The Salmon River girls' varsity volleyball squad was too much for Tupper Lake on Monday October 19, as it won three straight sets, 25-16, 25-13, 26-24 for the last NAC home game of season.

Senior powerhouse setter, Raven Oakes, set up her teammates to hand out 27 assists while senior teammate, Brittany Brooks worked the net for 15 kills and added five service points. Senior Mara Lazore notched 10 kills and senior Tsiiowisonte Laffin tallied 11 service points. Elizabeth Fleming fashioned 4 kills and 2 blocks while Fawn Jacobs served up 6 service points and Avery Benedict generated 3 points.

With every last home game comes senior night, where the seniors are recognized and honored for their hard work and dedication to the team. "This is such an exciting moment for us but at the same time I am dreading it" commented Coach Nicole Deshaies. "We will be losing a group of strong willed young women that would do anything for this team or myself. Tonight's group of seniors hold a very special place in my heart. I have had the pleasure of coaching these four young ladies for several years now. It's hard to believe it's their senior night". The four senior are Brittany Brooks, Tsiiowisonte Laffin, Mara Lazore and Raven Oakes.
