Akwesasne Eagles Football team in Tournament Championship

One of the two local Flag Football teams made it to the Championship game in a tournament about two weeks ago. But a champion has yet to be decided.

On September 6, in an Akwesasne tournament, the Eagles Black football team made it to the final game against a Malone squad. But it was raining and cold and the players didn't want to play anymore. In their defense they are only in grade two.

The teams decided to make up that Title game last week in Generations Park in Hogansburg, but miscommunication on the part of organizers scrubbed that game. The teams are going to try again at Generations field.

Between September 6 and now, the league has been going on as scheduled, and games are being played at Generations Park and behind the St. Regis Mohawk School.

On Tuesday September 16, the Black team met a determined Massena club who came to town to play hard and the Massena team pulled off the win.

Another Massena team played against the Eagles Green team and Akwesasne won that game 5-3.

This weekend Massena is hosting a tournament at Alcoa field and Akwesasne's first action is Saturday morning. The Green team plays at 8:30 a.m. and Black plays 8:45 a.m.
