Maddy Dillabough prepares to make one of her 26 saves in the Raider win over Albany Academy.

Last Friday night was the last night that the four seniors of the Red Raider Girls Hockey team would be playing in the Massena Arena. The seniors leaving this year are Laura Gonzales, Shaydi Oakes, Bethany Rogers and Kawe Francis-Herne. Gonzales, Oakes and Rogers are members of the original team. They started as eight graders when the team first formed in 2007. They said farewell to their fans with a 2-1 victory over Albany Academy.

Shaydie Oakes  * Started playing hockey at age 8 * Daughter of Dan Oakes and Aletha Lazore * Joined the Red Raiders as an 8th grader as one of the original players. Sophomore Jennifer Barney put the Lady Raiders on the board when she scored her second goal of the season at 6:44 into the first period. Barney scored on a wrist shot after receiving a pass from Jaclyn Spinner.

Senior Laura Gonzales was not going to be denied when she sent back a rebound off a shot by Mackenzie Young late in the second period to pull the Raiders a head 2-0.

Albany Academy came out recharged in the third period and cut the Raider lead 2-1 just two minutes into the period. The Raider defense held strong the rest of the game with Kharlene Garrow, Ellen Greene, Mackenzie Young, Shannon Casey and Colleen Besaw holding off the pressure from Albany.

Eight grader Maddy Dillabough stood tall between the pipes making 26 saves for the win. The Lady Raiders improve their record 6-10-3.
