Akwesasne runners have success in two races

Akwesasne’s runners were hot on their feet during the past month as they competed in two separate races and continued their hobby.
On Saturday, April 25, Tasha Thompson, Warren Conners and Shawn Martin both competed in the 8th Annual Run to End MS held in Cornwall. The run has 5k, 10k and marathon lengths.
Thompson finished in 158th place out of 176 runners in the 5K race.
Conners finished in 5th place out of 65 runners in the 10K race. He was also 2nd to finish is his category of men aged 40-49.
Martin finished just behind Conners in 6th place out of 65 runners in the 10K race. He was also 2nd in his category of men aged 30-39.
On May 24, marathon runner Kim Russell competed in the Vermont City Marathon. She finished in 4 hours, 7 minutes and 53 seconds, placing 1155th out of 2330 runners. She came in 38th place out of 97 runners in her division of women aged 45-49.
