  • Letter to the Editor

    Apr 21, 2012

12 million dollar expansion… a vote between the ‘haves, and the ‘have nots; Dear Editor 4/19/2011 I recently read a letter written by Agnes Terrance and I wanted to comment and support her position of ‘being of one mind’, which in my opinion is the only solution to the proposed expansion of the Casino. Maybe her past candidacy should have been taken more seriously by the voters. I don’t feel the answer to this proposal is to character assassinate Tarbell Management. After all, this business is credited with providing jobs to everyone fo...

    Apr 21, 2012

AKWESASNE MOHAWK TERRITORY – From time to time, federal elections are held to choose the leadership for the Government of Canada. As the date closes in, the various political parties and mainstream media target populations of people who do not usually vote, such as the Mohawk community of Akwesasne. Historically, the people of Akwesasne have not participated in the federal elections and it is something that continues to this day. There are a range of reasons based on principles of national identity and the manner that the elected system of g...

  • EARTH DAY

    Apr 21, 2012

On April 22nd the world will observe Earth Day. Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. What a tremendous, sacred gift we have been given to live in this beautiful world! Do we truly hold it dear to our hearts, or do we take it for granted? “In all things of nature there is something marvelous.” -Aristotle- What has happened in our world? I am sad and dismayed when I read in the newspapers that ethics have been put aside in favor of greed and financial gain. Our Earth was created as a sac...

  • How to Live Without Drugs and Alcohol

    Apr 21, 2012

A struggling addict or alcoholic might ask: “How do I live without drugs and alcohol?” The proposition can be mind-boggling for someone who is still caught in the grip of addiction. Typically, the addict or alcoholic cannot even picture their life and what it would be like without self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. Furthermore, even if they could imagine such a life without chemicals, most of us do not want such a fairy tale existence. The idea of sobriety repels us, because we imagine that we will be miserable without our drug of cho...

  • Alcohol Awareness

    Tiffany Leabo|Apr 21, 2012

Parents can take many steps to protect their kids from illness and disease.
