A Voice from the Eastern Door
Showcasing artwork from Salmon River, Malone Central, Brushton-Moria & Chateaugay
MALONE – The time to display our elementary students’ artwork is upon us. To encourage creativity and collaboration, The Thrive Project is proud to sponsor the Young Artists in Action art exhibit in partnership with Adirondack for Kids and the Downtown Artist Cellar. The exhibit will be displayed from May 6 until May 22, with a closing reception this Wednesday evening from 4:30-7 pm.
In conjunction with this event, we are excited to announce that the Young Artists in Action exhibit will be celebrated simultaneously with the Robideau-Lamitie King Exhibit, showcasing artwork from our local middle school and high schools. This exhibit is sponsored by the Foothills Art Society, located on Pearl Street in Malone, NY.
Our children’s exhibit is always an extraordinary show. It recognizes our young artists from the Malone Central School District, Brushton-Moria School, Salmon River Central, and Chateaugay Central while encouraging community connection and involvement. Each artist is encouraged to donate his or her piece of artwork to be sold for $20. The donation is a creative way to recognize our aspiring artists and contribute to children’s art programming in our community. The money raised will fund children’s art workshops generated by The Thrive Project.
We invite the entire community to celebrate our young artists by visiting the Downtown Artist Cellar during regular gallery hours Wednesday through Saturday from 1-5 pm at 410 East Main Street, Malone. The children’s art exhibit can also be viewed on DAC’s website at downtownartistcellar.com. The Thrive Project and Adirondack for Kids are committed to making the arts accessible to everyone in our community. Your involvement will ensure a successful event and help support our commitment.
The Thrive Project, the non-profit arm of the Downtown Artist Cellar, drives the advancement of the arts and arts education. Our organization believes art creates community and endeavors to inspire curiosity and creativity. Since its incorporation, The Thrive Project has sponsored workshops for children, adults, and seniors and has collaborated with North Country Community College, Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES, and the Community Friendship Volunteer Program. It is also part of the Arts and Corrections pilot program administered through Wave Farm and funded by NYSCA. Additionally, The Thrive Project has proudly administered the creation of a public mural in the heart of downtown Malone, NY, and supported initiatives such as Poetry @ DAC, Yoga @ DAC, and Open Mic @ DAC.
