OPG Kicks Off March Break Fun 2024

The Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and our community partners kicked off their March Break with some fun and free educational programs.

This morning, the March Break Fun 2024 held their first session on “Exploring Animal Diversity The River Institute joined OPG at the OPG Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre for this interactive workshops that explored animal biodiversity and invertebrate ecology.

It’s not too late to register - events are happening all week. Get ready for an unforgettable experience where you will unlock your inner scientist through hands-on learning experiences with real environmental scientists.

Culture on Canvas: The Story of the Maple Tree and the Passenger Pigeon

Join the Native North American Travelling College Travel Troupe for an unforgettable cultural workshop. Guests will have an opportunity to learn about the story of the Maple tree and the role played by the passenger pigeon during the tapping season. Participants are invited to paint their very own artistic interpretation of the story on canvas.

March Break Winter Walk and Workshop

Session #1: 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m.

Session #2: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Session #3: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join staff from the Raisin Region Conservation Authority for a guided snowshoe, or hiking adventure, in and around the woods near the OPG Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre! Warm up afterwards with hot chocolate while enjoying a variety of fun educational activities inside the Centre. Learn all about winter tree identification, watersheds, biodiversity, conservation practices, identifying wildlife tracks, and more!

Please note that some of the programming may be altered due to weather. Organizers recommend that guests plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to their session.
