Indian Time - A Voice from the Eastern Door

LAZORE, Elizabeth Lena – Elizabeth "Sweets" Lazore, 56, of Island Road, Akwesasne. Passed away on Tuesday October 3, 2023 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital after a long-term illness.

Elizabeth was born on July 2, 1967 in Rochester, New York. The daughter of Tommy Lazore and Elizabeth Martin-Lazore.

In her younger years she worked at Kodak and Xerox in Rochester and later at Encompass LLC as an administrative assistant.

Elizabeth enjoyed playing cards, Yahtzee and trips to the casino with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her mother, siblings, children and many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth is survived by her mother Elizabeth Martin-Lazore; her sons Thomas "TJ" Lazore and Adam White of Akwesasne and her daughter Alyssa (Patrick) Viggiani-Manou of Rochester, NY. Sister of Kelly Pierce-Bayne (Dave), Lynn Martin-Pierce, Regina Pierce-Tarbell (Jeff) and sister-in-law of Debbie Jocko. Survived by uncles Richard "Dick" Martin and Robert "Bobby" Lazore and many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her father Tommy Lazore; brother Rodney "Tom" Martin-Pierce and brother-in-law Kenny Leaf. Uncles Peter Martin Sr. (Patricia), Louie Martin (Roberta) and by aunts, Julia Francis, Annie Elward, Mary Lazore, Lena Martin and Marion "Jumbo" Martin.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh St. West (613-932-8482). Elizabeth's family wishes are to have a private ceremony and feast. A private burial will take place at a later date.
