Melvin Hank (Karonhiowanen) Thompson

 

Melvin Hank (Karonhiowanen) Thompson passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. He is survived by his two daughters Shayleen, Sydney and his grandchildren Angus Jr., Shanniah, Shaylyn and Bodhi, his brothers and sister: Darrell (Allyson) of Kahnawake, Vince (Gina), Barry (Brenda), Dewey (Britt), Sheryl (Frank) all of Kawenoke, many nieces and nephews; Natasha, Nathan, Narissa (Brandon), Ohentiiah, Martika, Thomas (T.J.), Sidney, Kirby, Ilona (Chris), Taryn (Jonathan), Trevin, Tanner, Tawnee (Mitch), Mikayla (Ernie), Makenzie, Matteas, Sloane, Kiana (Frank) and Gardyn all of Akwesasne, his long time friend Margie Marquis, his chosen granddaughter Kanerahtine and chosen grandson Reese, his cousin who was like a sister, Debbie (Ronkwa) Point. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and cousins. He enjoyed biking, lawn services, taking care of plants and landscaping, music, dancing, enjoyed watching his grandson, Angus Jr. play lacrosse and hockey and watched NASCAR on sundays as he was an avid Kevin Harvick #4 fan when it didn't interfere with the Dallas Cowboys football games. Right out of high school he worked for Morewood Housing and Manufacturing at Morewood Ont., Canadian Coast Guard in Prescott Ont. He also worked as a cable technician that took him various places, Ottawa, Casselman, Virginia, North Carolina to name a few, he also spent a few years in Texas. He also worked for Mohawk Eliminator Boats, manufacturing boats for Eliminator Boats Canada for a couple of years. He also worked locally in construction with his brothers and had a small lawn care company. He lit up every room he walked into and always greeted you with a big ol' smile. He was predeceased by his parents, Louie and Idrene, his brothers Roderick, Clayton (Red), his godmother Clara White and his nieces and nephew, Trista, Chiara and Aspen. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes West Branch 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482). Rested at the Homestead 131 Point Road Akwesasne on Saturday July 8, 2023. Traditional words of acknowledgement of the passing of Melvin took place at the Homestead, 131 Point Road on Monday July 10, 2023. Interment to follow at Long House Cemetery.
