Background: Ahkwesahsronon Shonatatèn:ron is a community organization with a mission to document and preserve the memories of Indian Residential School Survivors and develop meaningful healing activities for the atrocities of the colonization process. Ahkwesahsronon Shonataten:ron will identify children from our community who were sent to Residential School by using oral history, archival records, and archaeological research.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Compile and analyze qualitative and quantitative data
Data management- data entry, organize and store all resources obtained
Review and Analyze data, identify trends, provide summary of findings, report writing
Public presentations
Create diagrams, graphics, charts, etc. to convey data, concepts or ideas to community
Conduct interviews with survivors, following interview protocols and procedures
Attend and provide support at all Ahkwesahsronon Shonataten:ron events and meetings
Travel to conduct research, training, meetings, etc. Long periods may be required
Administrative support such as requesting access to information, responding to questions, maintaining schedules and coordinating deliverables.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Candidate must be highly motivated, committed and have strong communication skills. Candidate must have the ability to multitask, work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Bachelor Degree in related field or High school diploma with 1-2 years of experience in related work.
Demonstrate highly advanced organizational and multi-tasking skills
Strong analytical skills to be able to analyze data and identify trends
Proficient writing skills
Proficient in Apple products as well as MS Office Suite (Word, excel, etc.)
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Strong communication skills
Ability to speak to elders in kind and respectful manner is required at all times
Excellent time management and punctuality
Ability to speak and write in Kanien’keha/Mohawk language is not required but is an asset
Job Type and Salary: Full-time permanent. Wage is $22/hour.
Applicant will undergo training in data processing, traditional teachings and trauma informed strategies throughout the research process.
Schedule: Monday to Friday; 40 hours per week. Additional hours and occasional weekends dependent on scheduling (training, interviews, community events, etc.).
