A Voice from the Eastern Door
Tracey Kawisáronnión Noel Thompson, Snipe Clan, born January 2, 1972, unexpectedly passed into the spirit world the morning of April 14, 2023, met by her beloved Mother Gloria Thompson and her father Frank A. Thompson.
Tracey is survived by her dear brother Fred M. Thompson and dear sister Angela C. Thompson, chosen son Skylar A. Thomas and chosen daughter Erica K. Francis, God children Haylee & Kaylee Jacco and Clint Francis. Her God mother Debbie Caldwell and many aunts, uncles & cousins.
Tracey was a natural artist who enjoyed beading, painting and DIY home renovations. Tracey was a firm believer in passing along the culture, crafting and learning our Mohawk language, so this was the motivation for the Kawehno:ke Summer Program.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling with family to the ocean, watching family in lacrosse and hockey, making the best pickles on the island and loved country music.
Tracey was dedicated to our community and held a place on the Kawehno:ke Recreation Committee, where she volunteered for 40+ years. Tracey was also a Teacher Aid with AMBE for nine years and always spoke so fondly of her time there with the children.
Tracey organized "Shaiiakwaksha'okon':a" – "We Were Children". A circular moccasin vamp display dedicated to the Residential School Children.
With her love for beading and crafting, came the birth of The Bead Shack where she shared her love through classes and workshops. Which created a welcoming space for events to connect family, friends and the community.
