JOSEPH C. THOMPSON

Tsi'Snaihne – Joseph C. Thompson, 81, of 161 Tewesateni Road, unexpectedly passed away at the Tsiionkwanonhso:te Adult Care Facility on Thursday, March 9, 2023.

Joseph was born on October 9, 1941 in Syracuse, son of the late Richard and Mary (Cook) Thompson. He was a Salmon River Central School graduate, and on October 24, 1970 married Carol Ann Jacobs at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Fr. Arsenault officiating.

He was an Ironworker, working in both Canada and the US, most recently at the Nuclear Power Plant in Darlington, Ontario. He was known for his storytelling when he shared rides with friends and could always be found playing cards in his spare time.

Joseph will be remembered for his various "Joe-isms", or common phrases such as 'Good going,' 'You make me wary,' and 'And all that.' He enjoyed tending to his yard but his greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter and watching her sporting events.

He is survived by his wife Carol; his daughter Teena Thompson of Snye; his granddaughter Keely Thompson-Cook of Snye; his god-daughter Denise Jackson; and two sisters, Grace Roundpoint of Cornwall Island and Katherine Thompson of Hogansburg.

Besides his parents Richard and Mary, Joseph was predeceased by his siblings Laura Cree, Clarence, Stewart and Robert Thompson; and his brother-in-law Wallace Roundpoint.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Monday 11 AM -3PM where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM.

Memorial donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the Akwesasne Ambulance Service.
