AAS Provides Pet Food to 86 Owners

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the Akwesasne Animal Society (AAS) held its second Pet Paw Pantry, providing pet food to Akwesasne community members struggling to make ends meet. Niawenhkó:wa to Jennifer Herne, Jay Herne, Bram Herne, Bryce Herne, Niko Jacques, Derrick King, Jean Laffin, Lori Laffin, Tina Garrow, Kaly White, Mary Arquette, and Kanenishon Arquette for volunteering in frigid temperatures to distribute pet food, cat litter, blankets, leashes, treats, food dishes, and dog toys. A total of 86 pet owners received food and supplies, which helped them care for their 127 dogs and 113 cats. The Animal Society is a non-profit community organization whose volunteers do their best to help everyone. They apologize to anyone who did not receive food. They will do their best to try to secure more food donations for the next Pet Paw Pantry, which will occur on March 18 at 1 pm at the SRMT Seniors parking lot.
