Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club Increases Minimum Wage to $15.02

Minimum Wage Increase Became Effective November 19th

AKWESASNE – The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club is pleased to announce an increase in the minimum wage for all Club employees. On Thursday, November 18, 2021 the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club's Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve an increase in the ABGC's minimum wage to reflect that of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's standard minimum wage of $15.02 per hour. The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors and Administrative team recognizes the value of the hard work and talent ABGC employees bring to our organization and wanted to reflect that in the compensation they receive. The new minimum wage of 15.02 that went into effect on November 19, 2021, represents an increase of $2.47 over the previous rate of $12.55. This minimum wage increase is an investment in the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club mission, "to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring community members"

"Our frontline youth development staff, who work directly with our community youth, are the Club's greatest asset," stated ABGC Executive Director Jessica Cree Jock. "In order to help Akwesasne youth reach their full potential, it is essential for the Club to recruit and retain highly motivated professionals. This wage increase represents an investment in quality of care for the youth we serve."
