Tribe's EOC Reports 5 New COVID-19 Cases: 67 Quarantined

01.14.2021. AKWESASNE. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting five (5) new cases of COVID-19 today, which makes 18 total active cases under the Tribe's jurisdiction. None of our relatives have resolved since yesterday, leaving 67 family members and friends in quarantine. We continue to extend them our best wishes for a speedy and safe recovery.

The new cases can be attributed to household spread, where once the virus is introduced into a household it continues to spread to other members of the same household. It requires members, often family members or housemates, to isolate themselves until released by a public health official. For anyone who is undergoing isolation or quarantine who may need emergency food supplies or other essential items, please contact the Tribe's Family Advocates Office at (518) 358-3021.

The EOC takes this time to ask everyone to please remain vigilant, as well as patient when dealing with frontline staff and healthcare workers. They have been on the frontline risking their own personal safety since the pandemic started and doing their best to meet your everyday health and wellness needs. They are not only risking their personal health; but that of their husbands, wives, children, and relatives. Please be respectful in your language and keep our frontline workers safe; including from verbal abuse.

The EOC is urging everyone to please stay in your immediate household's bubble, wear a mask, practice social distancing, and wash your hands often. We will get through this by taking personal action today.
