Stargazing Campfire

Fri. Oct. 18 - CANTON: Stargazing campfire, 7:30 p.m., Wachtmeister Field Station; Nature Up North invites you to a night of stargazing and astronomy at a campfire with St. Lawrence University Physics Professor Aileen O’Donoghue; short discussion, followed by the opportunity to join Aileen in small groups at a telescope set up a short distance away; free and open to the public, with water and s’ mores provided; to get there, proceed south down Park St. about ¼ mi past the campus athletic fields, drive will be on the left coming from the SLU campus and right if coming from Route 27.

Fri. Oct. 18 - POTSDAM: Former President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Narayana Kocherlakota will give a talk on the United States’ economic outlook, Clarkson University, Bertrand H. Snell Hall Room 213, 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Kocherlakota was president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis from 2009-2015, and served on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the monetary policy making arm of the Federal Reserve System; active commentator on the economy, with appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg, and National Public Radio; Bloomberg Opinion columnist since 2016; named one of the top 100 global thinkers of 2012 by Foreign Policy magazine.
