The Akwesasne Membership Board has requested that an Election be held for all positions on the Board.

District of Tsi Snaihne:

One Two (2) Year Term Board Member

One Four (4) Year Term Board Member

One Chairperson 4 year Term

District of Kanatakon:

One Two (2) year term Board Member

One Four (4) year term Board Member

One Chairperson 4 year term

District of Kawehnoke:

One Two (2) year term Board Member

One Four (4) year term Board Member

One Chairperson 4 year term

Nominations will be held from the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the following locations:

Tsi Snaihne: Snye Recreation

Kanatakon: St. Regis Recreation

Kawehnoke: Tri District Elders Lodge

Pursuant with Section 6 of the Akwesasne Membership Board Election and By-Election Regulations; to be an eligible candidate for the Akwesasne Membership Board, one must:

a) be at least twenty-five (25) years of age on the nomination date; and

b) be a member; and

c) must be Onkwehonwe and at least one (1) of their natural parents must be a Member of Akwesasne; and

d) must reside in the Territory of Akwesasne for at least ten (10) consecutive years prior to their nomination; and

e) the candidate for Board Member from a District, must reside in that District for at least one (1) year immediately prior to their nomination; and

f) must not have been dismissed from the Membership Board in the last four (4) years prior to their nomination; and

g) must consent and provide a criminal record information at least fifteen (15) days prior to the election; and

h) must not have been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada or a felony in the United States within ten (10) years prior to their nomination.

An election, if needed, will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 9a.m. to 6p.m.

Advance Polls will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 and on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 by appointment only.
