ISABEL M. GARROW

AKWESASNE- Isabel M. (Swamp) Garrow, 81, of 148 St. Regis Road passed away early Saturday morning, July 27, 2019 at the Massena Memorial Hospital.

Isabel was born on December 9, 1937 in Hogansburg, daughter of the late Peter Gray and Josephine Swamp. She attended schools in Akwesasne and graduated from Mater Dei College in 1981. On November 13, 1954 she married Leonard C. Garrow at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Jacobs officiating.

She was a member of the St. Regis Catholic Church and the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group. Isabel liked reading, crosswords and radio bingo. She enjoyed going out for rides and shopping with her cousin Ida and loved to spend time with her family and her pets, her cat Liz Taylor and her dog Pebbles.

Isabel is survived by her husband Leonard; two children, Carol Garrow of Kawehnoke, and Dan and Belva Garrow of Tsi Snaihne; her son-in-law Jim Hemlock; her grandchildren, Toni, Cory (Taylor), Rylee, Matthew (Tarri), Megan (Brad), Fabian (Autumn); great grandchildren Lance, Mason, Talon, Saber, Summer, Hunter, Bradley, Haley, Bryce, Hayven, Tori, Preston and Alyssa; three great-great-ågrandchildren; and two godchildren Cindy Vaughn and Katrina Armstrong.

She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Josephine; a daughter Susan Hemlock July 27, 2007; two grandsons, Lawrence Michael Garrow on January 18, 2013, and Kevin P. Hemlock on February 10, 2007; and her daughter's companion, Matthew Elmer White March 3, 2005.

Friends called at Kateri Hall Tuesday and Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Andrew Amyot celebrating.

Memorial donations may be made in Isabel's memory to the St. Regis Catholic Church or the Akwesasne Cancer Support Group.
