Fashion Show Celebrates Local Traditional Designers at 2019 AWC

ST. REGIS RECREATIONAL CENTER – Akwesasne has a variety of talented fashion designers all of who draw influence from the traditional Mohawk clothing. To support and showcase the many talents of these designers, the Akwesasne Winter Carnival hosted a Traditional Clothing Fashion Show. Models of all ages (from children to elders) showed off designs from ribbon skirts, to shirts, to jewelry and modern takes on traditional Mohawk dresses and more.

The designers of this fashion show were Marlana Thompson, Tammy King, Shquanebin Lone-Preston, Katsitsiakatsthe Sharrow, Tsiahawi Perkins, Naquaqua Lone, Laura Thompson, Shaking Reeds Teio Elijah, and Tsionatiio Thompson.
