Attention Akwesasne Beaders!

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Cultural Tourism office cordially invites Akwesasne Mohawk Beaders to participate in creating a beaded flower garden: Ionkwatsi’tsiaiénthon, “We planted a flower garden.” This project is intended to highlight our experienced Akwesasne beadwork artisans. Artisans are invited to create their own unique beaded flower and “plant” it in our garden at the upcoming 18th Akwesasne Powwow. In keeping with our traditional beading methods, we would ask that you please not use any plastic or acrylic sew on gems. Pearl or crystal beads for center of flower are allowable. Artist’s choice of size and color, raised or flat beading style. The finished flower can be brought to our booth and the artist will sew it into the “garden” among the beaded leaves and vines. We invite your participation in creating this wonderful piece of art that will proudly represent our culture. Please call Penny Peters, (518) 358-4238 or email tourism@srmt-nsn.gov for further details and information.
