NFL Players Meet Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club Members in a Surprise Visit

The Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club members received a surprise visit from two NFL pro-football players: Pittsburgh Steelers' Alejandro Villanueva and David DeCastro. William Clute, owner of GAYO, a local fishing guide, arranged the visit weeks ago. He asked to keep their arrival quiet so the members of ABGC could enjoy their visit privately and spend time with club members.

Alejandro Villanueva, ABGC member and Akwesasne Attack lax player, Katsitsiakaste and David DeCastro.

Villanueva is a Spanish American football offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Villanueva was a Captain in the United States Army, in which he served as an Army Ranger and was decorated with a Bronze Star for valor.

DeCastro is an American football guard for the Steelers. He played college football for Stanford University, and earned unanimous All-American honors.

Both players were honored to meet Levi Oakes, last surviving Mohawk Code Talker.

The youngest of club members lined up to received a Pittsburgh Steelers hat autographed by Villanueva and DeCastro, and then other club members followed in order of age. Last to meet the players were ABGC Club staff and board members. As the members became more comfortable, they soon brought their lacrosse sticks, t-shirts, and even shoes to be signed by the impressive players.
