Niawen Ko:wa from Iakhihsohtha

All of us here at Iakhihsohtha would like to thank everyone who helped make the holiday season so very special for the Totas. Despite the 2 week closure we were up and running before Christmas.

With the monies that were raised from our 2017 Trivia Fundraiser, Iakhihsohtha was able to make the Tota's holiday season so very special. Not only did we purchase a 12-foot tree and decorations, but also the staff was able to purchase some beautiful Christmas gifts for the Totas. What a great job they did!

The Christmas Family Breakfast was once again a very special time with family, friends and staff volunteering to make the magic happen. Special thank you to Santa (Dick Otto), Mrs. Claus and her elf (Teneya Mitchell and Jayda Lazore).

Our New Year's Eve Gala proved to be another favorite event. The Totas dressed in their best clothing, ate a delicious fancy meal, and then sang, danced, and toasted in the New Year with their families and friends.

Once again none of this would have been possible without our volunteers. Special thank you to Mae Green, Teneya Mitchell, Janice Sharrow and Mary Terrance for going above and beyond!

Throughout the season Iakhihsohtha residents received several donations.

Niawen to:

- Tsiionkwanonhsote for the beautiful gift bags that lighted up our residents during the outbreak

- Akwesasne Mohawk Casino for the Christmas gifts

- Gift train from Kana:takon School

- Lap blankets donated by Krystal Thomas (Mike Thomas)

- Pillowcases donated by the Home Makers

- Scarfs donated by Eileen Montour

Thank you,

Sue Smoke
