The Akwesasne Communication Society will hold their Annual General Assembly on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department located on Route 37 in Akwesasne.

The Akwesasne Communication Society Annual General Assembly agenda will be as follows:

1) Opening

2) Introduction of the Akwesasne Communication Society Board of Directors

3) Minutes of 2016 Annual General Assembly

4) Presentation of the Audit

• 2016-2017

5) Announcement of Election Results

6) Other Business

• Elect Executive Board

7) Adjournment

There will be four seats open on the Board of Directors and an election will be held to fill the following terms of office: 3 three-year terms and 1 two-year term.

Board of Director Responsibilities: The Board of Directors provides oversight for the 97.3 CKON radio station. They develop and ensure policies are followed. They also ensure financial transparency to the community of Akwesasne.

If a community member is interested in submitting their name for nomination as a board member of the Akwesasne Communication Society, please pick up an application at the CKON radio station. All applications must be signed by the nominee indicating they accept their nomination. All nomination forms must include a resume and a letter stating how the candidate would benefit the Akwesasne Communication Society. Completed applications may be submitted to Diane McDonald at the radio station or electronically by e-mail. The deadline for submitting completed applications is September 15, 2017 by 4 p.m.

A voting station will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department. Successful candidates will be contacted to be present at the annual meeting where the winners will be announced beginning at 6 p.m. at the fire station.
