TAUNY to Host Estate Sale September 10

Quilts from the estate of Betty Vebber, Pierrepont, NY, will be offered to the public in a special sale taking place at The TAUNY Center in Canton, NY on Sunday, September 10, 2:00-4:00 pm. Fifty-six quilts, ranging from small wall hangings to full-size bed quilts will be available for purchase. All but a few of the quilts were made by Vebber; some include work that was done with friends. Many of the items are hand quilted.

Vebber, who passed away in January 2017 at the age of 88, was a prolific quilter who showed her work regularly at shows. She was a charter member of Borderline Quilters and a member of Sunday Rock Quilters. She was particularly recognized for her fine hand applique work. “I’ve admired Betty’s quilts for many years,” says TAUNY Executive Director Jill Breit. “Flowers and vines rendered in applique were a specialty of hers, and she often made them three-dimensional for greater realism. TAUNY is honored that Betty’s family approached us about sharing her work with the community. The sale will offer something for friends who want a remembrance of Betty, as well as collectors looking for high-quality quilts to display.”

In addition to being a chance to purchase a quilt made by Vebber the event on the 10th will be a tribute to her and an opportunity for her family and friends to remember her.

A few of the quilts in the sale are available for purchase before September 10, on TAUNY’s website.
