A school photograph from the Ahkwesáhsne Freedom School taken around 1994

Some of the individuals in the photograph, such as Iawentas Nanticoke, Kawennahente and Teioswathe Cook, Nihahsenna:a Peters, Aronhia:ies and Tsiehente Herne, and Kanonhkwa'tsherakohe Fox, all became teachers of the Mohawk language.

Some of the other individuals seen are some of the Thompson Brothers, who have gone on to become great legends of lacrosse. There's Katsi'tsiakátste Kyrie Ransom who is now attending Cornell University, and her brother Tekaionwahontere Beynan Ransom attended SUNY Canton and Syracuse University. Kawenniosta Jock, who has gone on to become a fashion designer, Tsiawente Jackson now working in the field of Social Work for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, and her sister Kanarahtenhawe Cubby Jackson who has become a successful massage therapist who now owns her own business in Ahkwesáhsne. Sateiokwen Bucktooth, recently married to Brett Bucktooth, is a successful language apprentice at Á:se Tsi Tewa:ton, the Ahkwesáhsne Cultural Restoration Program through the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.

All pictured are an awesome group of former Ahkwesáhsne Freedom School students, many of whom are now parents, working in and around the community of Ahkwesáhsne, more athletes, and some who are traditional singers and dancers.
