DIRECTOR OF CARE

(Permanent Full time Position) Tsiionkwanonhso:te/Long Term Care Facility Department of Health

Salary Range: RNO 2

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Administrator as part of the Management team, the Director of Care is responsible for the management and leadership of all aspects of resident care services and promoting and fostering the Resident Centered Model of Care. The person holding this position is required to meet the needs and expectations of the residents in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the Ministry Long Term Care Facility Program manual, the Residents’ Bill of Rights, the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Home’s mission and policies.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse with a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario,

• Current membership with Gerontology Nursing Association (GNA) and Registered Nurses of Ontario (RNA) is desirable.

• Post-RN education, certification or degree in nursing administration and management, preference is BScN or Business Degree In Health Management, particularly long term care and further education in geriatrics or rehabilitation,

• Three (3) years relevant experience at a long-term care facility, head nurse in chronic care or senior management in a community health agency.

Underfill Criteria:

• Must be a certified Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario

• Must be able to obtain RN education in gerontology within 3 year period

• A minimum of 3 years demonstrated work experience and management in long term care setting or nursing home industry

• Or extensive work experience in a clinical management role will be considered
