HOGANSBURG HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FUND COMPANY INC. GETS AWARDED

 

Mohawk River Village Units 5 & 6.

(December 30, 2016) Rooseveltown, NY – The Hogansburg Housing Development Fund Company Inc. submitted an application to the USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant Program 2016 focused on rental property assistance on behalf of the Mohawk Indian Housing Corporation Mohawk River Village Apartments. On September 6, 2016, Washington announced grants to preserve and repair affordable housing for very-low and low-income families living in rural areas. USDA awarded $3.9 million to 107 organizations in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and in every state except Montana and Washington.

Hogansburg Housing application was awarded for $43,140.59 as one of two organizations receiving the New York State available funds. The proposed program will undertake the rehabilitation of two multi-family rental buildings of the Mohawk River Village Apartments constructed in 1988 for added insulation and siding replacement with MIHC $37,596.41 contribution for a total cost of $80,747. Executive Director Mary Jo Terrance is pleased the grant allocation will update buildings to benefit four families and ensure these four units remain affordable and made available to low and very-low income families.
