SRCS District Residents:

By voting on May 17th, we will all play a part in deciding the future of our school district. I ask that you vote YES to adopt the budget proposal to support continued investment in our children’s education and to elect two new members of the Board of Education.

Members of a school board of education play an important part of our political voice and that is why I would like you to vote for Craig Jock, my Dad. A lifelong resident of Fort Covington, my father (with the help of my mother, Vicky) raised my brothers and I right here in this school district – all three of us graduating from Salmon River Central and respected Universities following high school. He and my mom, from a young age, brought us up to live in service to others and to give back to the community. Dad worked most of his professional career with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, called to volunteer as a parent advocate for children with special needs at Salmon River for 15 years, served as a coach to dozens of athletic teams, and in his free-time (when it existed) offered his services as a jack-of-all trades helping family, friends, and neighbors when called upon – he completed all of this while never letting his Dad duties falter.

It takes a special kind of person – someone with a vision for the future, a willingness to serve his community, and time to sacrifice – to serve in public office. I now look at Dad’s campaign and try to understand why he is running for the SRCS school board. When he gets home from canvassing the community he will describe his day and some of the anger that he hears from some district residents. I ask him, “Why are you doing this?” Dad has responded, “Because someone has to bring these communities together and put our students first instead of a personal agenda. It might as well be me.”

I believe that my Dad is called to serve and his years of experience in multiple levels of professional, personal, and volunteer service makes him the best and right choice to serve on the SRCS School Board of Education.
