SRMT Signs Agreement with Seaway Valley Ambulance

Claims SVA will provide Faster Response Time and More Qualified First Responders

Indian Time confirmed reports on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 that the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has signed an agreement with Seaway Valley Ambulance Service. Any person needing emergency medical assistance and transportation on the southern portion of Akwesasne will now receive ambulance service from Seaway Valley Ambulance. According to Tribal officials, this was a fiduciary and health service issue decision and community members will receive a higher level of care and a faster response time. SRMT signed a 12 to 15 month contract with SVA.

An MCA official stated, “The SRMT notified the MCA that they will not pursue a renewal of the MCA contract for Ambulance service which was extended until today. The Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance will continue to respond to Emergency Calls as usual regardless of the origin of the call.”

No further details are available at this time.

Indian Time contacted Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance Service but they were unable to release details at this time. They referred Indian Time to Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Communication Department, however they did not respond.

Indian Time also attempted to contact the HAVFD Fire Chief but he also did not respond.

Indian Time will have a more in depth story next week.
