OFFICE OF THE CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER AKWESASNE MEMBERSHIP BOARD BY- ELECTION

(NOVEMBER 17, 2015) The Akwesasne Membership Board has requested that a By- Election be held for one (1) position on the Board

District of Tsi Snaihne: One Two (2) Year Term Board Member

Nominations will be held from the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday December 5, 2015 at the following location:

District of Tsi Snaihne: Snye Homemakers Lodge

Pursuant with Section 6 of the Akwesasne Membership Board Election and By Election Regulations; to be an eligible candidate for the Akwesasne Membership Board, one must:

a) be at least twenty-five (25) years of age on the nomination date; and

b) be a member; and

c) must be Onkwehonwe and at least one(l) of their natural parents must be a Member of Akwesasne; and

d) must reside in the Territory of Akwesasne for at least ten(10) consecutive years prior to their nomination; and

e) the candidate for Board Member from a District, must reside in that District for at least one (1) year immediately prior to their nomination; and

f) must not have been dismissed from the Membership Board in the last four (4) years prior to their nomination; and

g) must consent and provide a criminal record information at least fifteen (15) days prior to the election; and

h) must not have been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada or a felony in the United States within ten (10) years prior to their nomination.

A By-Election if needed will be held on Saturday January 9, 2016 from 9a.m. to 6p.m.

Advance Polls will be held on Wednesday December 23, 2015 and on Tuesday December 29, 2015 by appointment only.
