TRUCK DRIVER / HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

FULL-TIME TERM POSITION (March 31, 2016) DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL SERVICES

 


Salary Level: GST 08 $40,214.83

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and transportation of vehicles and heavy equipment used by the Roads Program. Also responsible for the completion of work tasks related to roads and infrastructure maintenance and construction.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or Equivalency and a minimum of 3 years practical work experience related to road maintenance and construction. Have a valid Ontario class ‘A’ license with ‘Z’ air brake endorsement and a clean driver’s abstract in Quebec, New York State and Ontario. Must have a heavy equipment operator certification.

The incumbent must have good organizational and interpersonal skills to respond courteously and effectively with supervisors, co-workers and public. CPR, First Aid, WHMIS and Construction Safety Association training preferred, but not required. Must be able to respond to calls for overtime and some weekend work as directed by the immediate supervisor. Must have own transportation and be willing to use personal vehicle in course of employment.
