Description of Position: Under the direction of the Program Manager, responsible for the collection and analyzing data for the protection and management of Tribal water resources. Also assists with fisheries population assessments, particularly where water quality measurements are required. Conduct assessments using various gear types and record observed data for habitat, water quality and wetlands. The Technician will retrieve, format and store electronic data in databases, and provide summarizes of data in reports.

Qualifications: Applicants must have four-year degree in Environmental Studies or related field, preferred, or two completed years of college or university study with two years of relevant professional experience. Applicants must demonstrate competence with operation of a water quality sonde. The position requires physical exertion including the ability to carry equipment over uneven terrain and lifting or pulling nets. The position requires effective written communication skills and proficiency with Excel or other statistical programs. The ability to swim preferred and a boater’s safety certificate is preferred.

FLEET POLICY: Must be at least 21 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.

ELIGIBILITY LIST: A list of qualified candidates is created from interviews that may be used to appoint individuals to similar positions within the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe for a period of six months.
