FISH TECHNICIAN

FULL-TIME TERM POSITION (22 Weeks) TEHOTIIENNAWAKON - ENVIRONMENT

 


Salary Level: SP 13 - $33,523.52

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Environmental Program Manager, the Fish Technician will be responsible for working independently and/or with a team of other wildlife and environmental professionals in information gathering, wildlife monitoring and habitat protection, especially as related to the fish and minnow populations in and around Akwesasne.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two (2) years college/university in wildlife biology or a related field. Must be able to identify fish and minnow species found in and around Akwesasne, including Species at Risk.

Incumbent must possess strong organizational skills, good teamwork and communication skills. Must be able to collect Traditional Ecological Knowledge of the community of Akwesasne. Must be familiar with or proficient in the following computer programs: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint). Small craft operator certification required or must be obtained as soon as possible once hired.
