July 17, 2015 Port Dover, ON – Daily monitoring continues at the site of the Cornwall Bridge removal project in anticipation of commencing salvage operations. A Safe Zone has been established and will be in effect beginning Monday July 20. It is expected to be in place until approximately August 15.

Salvage operations are mobilizing with the arrival of equipment to the site including the installation of rigging. The Safe Zone encompasses the area where wire rigging is being installed. "For public safety, we are reminding everyone to remain outside of the boundaries to ensure we can efficiently move ahead with salvage of the Lac Manitoba," said Nadro Marine General Manager Jamie Nadrofsky.

The south side channel will remain open for river transits during the salvage operation. Crews on-site continue to monitor river current, along with regular daily inspections for environmental and site safety.

Nadro is working with Eastern Canada Response Corporation, Canadian Coast Guard and local authorities. Personnel and equipment remain on site for safety and security, including the tugs Seahound and Sharon M I to assist in response operations. The Lac Manitoba is a 64 ft., twin screw, 1,000 hp tug.
