UPDATE ON PUBLIC BEACHES IN AKWESASNE

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Community Health Program will be conducting a weekly water sampling of the Akwesasne public bathing beaches during the upcoming summer months. These sampling are being completed in order to ensure that all Akwesasronon have a safe and healthy swimming experience. All beaches will be monitored weekly throughout the summer season until August 30, 2015.

In order to determine if the water is safe for swimming, water samples will be collected and tested to ensure that the Escherichia coli (E coli) levels are below the Beach Management Protocol Standard. Please note that the bacterial counts reflect the conditions at the time of sampling. Conditions can change day-to-day depending on weather and river levels.
