SHARON J. KING

 

SNYE - Sharon J. King, 65, of 253 Wade LaFrance Memorial Road, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Cornwall Community Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two days. She had been a patient in Ottawa Hospitals since April after a lengthy illness.

Sharon was born September 13, 1949, in Massena, daughter of the late Lorenzo and Eileen B. Nichols Gibbs. She was a graduate of Massena High School in 1968 and she attended North Country Community College in Malone. She married Michael R. King "Junior", in May 1977 at Immanuel Congregational Church, Massena. Michael predeceased her on February 23, 1998.

Sharon was a secretary for the Mohawk Council in the Housing Department, and for the Home of the Elderly. She also worked for 10 years in Canton as a case worker for St. Lawrence County DSS and also worked at Wal-Mart in Massena. She was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge.

Sharon enjoyed reading, crocheting blankets, and camping. She was a Nascar fan and Driver #88 was her favorite. She enjoyed a variety of music, and loved animals, especially her dog "Shay". Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.

Sharon is survived by her son, Nicholas King and companion Julie Skidders; three sisters-in-law, Annie King, Mary Mattice, and Elizabeth Gibbs; her brother in law James Sabin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Stephen R. King, on April 1, 1987; two sisters, Eunice Oakes on November 30, 2008; and Cheryl L. Sabin on November 8, 2012; and two brothers, Richard Gibbs on June 4, 1950; and Eugene L. Gibbs on March 21, 2004.

Friends called at the Homemakers and the service was held Wednesday with Rev. Anthony Osuji officiating.
