MOHAWK COUNCIL OF AKWESASNE CALL OUT

MCA Executive Director is in search of Interested Eligible Voter to Serve as Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)

Term December 27, 2014 to December 31, 2017

Salary: $20.00 per hour during Training and Election Preparation

$28.00 per hour during Nomination and Voting Process

Summary of Responsibilities:

The appointed individual will oversee election processes and ensures that they are administered in accordance with the Akwesasne Election Law MCR # 2005-06- l92 and any successor law. The appointed Individual is responsible for ensuring all Deputy Electoral Officers (DEO’s) and their alternates are trained in administrating the election process in accordance with this law. Some of the other duties of the CEO are as follows:

•Providing information and answering questions asked by community members regarding the process of a General Election, By-Election, or Referendum;

•Preparing and updating the voter’s lists;

•Preparing press releases for the community;

•Preparing reports to the Executive Director;

•Attending all training sessions;

•Performing own clerical duties;

•Under the direction of the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

The Interested individual must be 21 years of age and an eligible voter. Previous experience as a CEO or DEO is considered an asset. The ability to speak and understand the Mohawk Language is an asset.

Must be reliable and willing to work flexible hours; must be impartial and courteous to all electors. Pursuant to the Akwesasne Elections Law Section 4. (3): “No sitting member of Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Justices of the Peace, or Justices of the Akwesasne Mohawk Court shall be eligible to be Chief Electoral Officer.”

Letters of interest should be received on or before 12:00 noon, Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
