A Voice from the Eastern Door

Welcome to the North Pole Family Fun Night

The Akwesasne Mohawk School on Kawehnoke played host to this special event which added a sparkle to the Christmas season. The cafeteria, gym and hallways were changed into a huge Santa's workshop where kids and parents took part in all kinds of holiday activities. They built ornaments, decorated Christmas cookies, created arts and crafts, and there was singing and other activities.

The highlight was the appearance of Santa Claus himself as child after child sat on his lap and told him what they wanted under their tree in a little under two weeks. As with the custom of these gatherings the kids were given a passport and had them signed at each activity. The teachers at Akwesasne Mohawk School manned the stations and made sure all the children had a good time.
