Jigging Contest Benefits Elders

94 year old Ida Forbes.

On Saturday night, the American Legion was the place for a jigging contest to benefit the Senior Center and Iakhihsohtha. Don Woodcock, champion fiddler, provided the jigging music along with the River Mohawks, Bobby Herne and Terry Terrance. Despite the numerous other events going on, the Legion was packed.

Organizer Dave Mitchell said, "There were such great dancers, I wish everyone could have been a winner. But it was for a great cause, everything was for the elders, and it was a lot of fun."

There were two 50/50 raffles run by the staff from Iakhihsohtha and the Senior Center.

L-R: Terry Terrance, Roger Mitchell, Bobby Herne, Dave Mitchell, Barry Corley, Don Woodcock and Eddie Lawrence. There wouldn't have been a jigging contest without these guys!

Judges were Dave Mitchell and Carl Cook, who chose the winners based on the applause of the crowd. There were first, second and third prizes for both male and female and the winners were:

Male

1st: Wally Ransom

2nd: Chad Back

3rd: David Arquette

Female

1st: Michelle Adams-Laffin

2nd: Marilyn Francis

3rd: Diana Lazore

A special prize went to 94 year old Ida Forbes.
