Akwesasne Mohawk School K-5 Graduation

Akwesasne Mohawk School Graduating K-5 class.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, the Akwesasne Mohawk School's principal Lynn McCarthy, along with the K-5 teacher Ms. Ashley Levac and Ms. Thompson, presented students with recognition and achievement awards to move them up to grade one. The AMS gym was transformed into a softly lit, tastefully decorated room (gym) with a balloon archway, purple colored streamers and purple covered tables with lit centerpieces rather than row seating. Students entered the room with the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance" playing in the background. Once there, the students sat with their parents throughout the ceremony until called for their awards. The ceremony proceeded with the Opening Address and awards given by the K-5 Teacher, Ms. Levac. All students were dressed in traditional wear with ribbon dresses, ribbon shirts and kastowas for the young men. Parents and students had the opportunity to take photos with a decorated background and enjoy snacks and drinks before leaving for the last day of school.

Adeline Fontaine accepts the "Buccaneer of Books Award" from Ms. Thompson.
