Submitted by Danielle Oakes

On Saturday December 7th 2013, Akwesasne Child and Family Services was pleased to see there were 26 children who chose to spend their day at the Snye Recreation Center to earn their Babysitting Certification from St. Johns Ambulance. The presenters, Tony and I, were very impressed with the well behaved group of young men and ladies we spent the day with. They showed respect, maturity and eagerness to learn. They spent the morning learning basic babysitting skills: how to change a diaper properly, how to properly pick up an infant, and nutritious snacks to prepare, to name a few. During the afternoon the children were introduced to basic CPR training, they were able to practice the techniques on each other. They were all successful in passing their final exam and were certified. We would like to thank you all for your participation and we would like to say "CONGRATULATIONS" on successfully completing and earning your certification. Our graduates were: Cassidy Peters, Denelle Mitchell, Devon George, Savannah Buckshot, Aleesha Smoke, Kathleen Arquette, Jheri White, Britney Light, Mirabella Lazore, Ogadesc Johnson, Billie Jackson, Krysten Thompson, Keith, Tristan Cook- Hasty, Kayanna Jackson, Brenna Burns-Barnes, Isabelle Smoke, Brounetta Terrance, Thomas Rourke, Awenhiyos King, Kiana McDonald and Lexi Cree.
