Status: Full-time position

Work Schedule: Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends

Reports to: Pastor of the Saint Regis Mission Parish

Requirements

-Must possess a degree in Theological Studies as well as a Teachers Degree or Diploma

Primary Function of the Position

The Religious Education and Programs Director (REPD) must possess a deep commitment and knowledge of religious values and education. The REPD must provide leadership to assist the parish community in building a strong foundation of spirituality for both children and adults.

The REPD must possess expertise in administrative functions as well as being able to interact and communicate with children, parents and teachers.

The REPD shall administrate by designing, developing, directing and evaluating various parish catechetical programs, such as Youth and Family Liturgy, Family Apostolate, etc., these programs shall be holistic in nature, whereby everyone in the parish gets involved.

The REPD must select strong, competent and able volunteers for catechism programs, as well as making appropriate schedules for those volunteers. The REPD will be responsible for ensuring the success of the catechetical program and must manage the budget as well as supervise.

Volunteers will report directly to the REPD.

Oversees Curriculum

The REPD who designs and oversees the catechetical program must assess the current curriculum as well as making appropriate changes based on the needs of the teachers, parents and students.

Along with the pastor, the REPD will co-ordinate Confirmation and First Communion classes, organize a monthly mass for the children who are making their First Communion and who must bring their parent(s) to the classes.

The REPD must co-ordinate and attend staff meetings and must be able to handle any problems or discipline issues that may occur.

Counseling

The REPD may counsel families or students who are either enrolled in a program or who may be seeking counsel.

Other Related Duties

The REPD will be responsible for organizing, maintaining and/or scheduling any types of activities, (ie. wakes, dinners, parties, meetings and any other such functions) being held at the Kateri Hall.

When asked to attend the REPD must attend Trustee’s meetings.

The REPD must be computer literate with knowledge of various computer programs, must have knowledge of budgetary matters by maintaining a budget using the Quick Books program and must be able to answer telephone calls in a professional manner.
