PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION

Annual Salary: Pay Band SP-06 $45,938.00 - $49,687.00

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Senior Payroll Officer, the incumbent provides payroll services to the organization while ensuring that payroll policies and procedures are followed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Payroll Officer will be required to have a 2 – 3 year diploma in Business Administration or Business Administration/Accounting from a recognized post secondary institution and Level 1 of the (PMCP) Payroll Management Certification Program offered through the Canadian Payroll Association. 1-2 years of experience in a payroll environment with over 100 employees would be an asset; plus must be willing to complete Payroll Management Certification - Level 1, payroll specific courses; Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ACCPAC, Adobe, Acrobat, ADP or automated payroll system. Experience in the judgment and ability to understand and apply accounting concepts are critical; Knowledge of Finance policies and procedures, Human Resource policies and procedures and Government legislation applicable to pay and benefits.

Excellent computer skills ie: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); working knowledge of principles and practices of payroll administration and accounting, including legislated requirements, statutory reporting and filing requirements, automated payroll and accounting systems, spreadsheets (preferably Excel). Working knowledge of MCA policies and agreements that affect the workforce; must work well under pressure; have excellent decision making, budgeting, analytical and problem solving skills. Must possess a valid driver’s license and willingness to use personal vehicle during course of employment.
